Below are some highlights of what we do.
From early in 2023, a drop in Monday morning Café enabled individuals to freely enter a warm space, have a cuppa and play the occasional board game.
We also have themed food events.
…And the making of wreaths.
Play the following video to see some wreath making.
Many wonderful creators have hosted art and other workshops, offering low-cost (or free) opportunities to try many different activities, including paper making.
From the start Crafting sessions have been very popular and examples include the creation of Easter bunnies.
…plus mini-figure painting session run by Eric Decreux
A popular special occasion in each of the first two years has been the Christmas sing-along led by the Pentland singers.
Other sessions were printing, paper cutting, water colouring, charcoal drawing, embroidery, sewing & repairs and printing.
Further events in 2024, included the 1st Birthday celebration & Open Day, Great Big Green Weekend, Fairtrade Café, Live Literature events (with local schools) and Children’s Book Day.
The venue has played a role in community resilience, in the aftermath of Covid and after the Baberton explosion in December 2023, acting as a hub for deliveries, and working in partnership with Church and Village Hall.
The Hub facilitated community consultation around the Muirwood Field path plans.
Organisations who have used the hub have included Edinburgh Remakery, Filmstart, Home Instead, Juniper Green board gamers, Lloyd Robinson hypnotherapist & compere and Steph Menopause Café, local secondary schools, and hosts the Juniper Green and Baberton Mains Community Council meetings.
