Who We Are
The following trustees manage the charity Pentlands Community Space with responsibility to oversee the work at the Hub@531.
Their mission is to enable our community to gather, have fun and improve its mental health.

Lynn Elliott, Chair
Lynn is a full time working single parent with a daughter at Currie Community High School and has lived in Baberton Mains for more than 20 years. She has worked for NHS Lothian for over 25 years in a variety of jobs currently in a project management role. Lynn is Minute Secretary of Juniper Green & Baberton Mains Community Council, a committee member of Juniper Green Tennis Club and a parent board member of Smilechildcare (a childcare charity in SW Edinburgh). Lynn has chaired the charity Pentlands Community Space since December 2022.

Sue Webber, Vice Chair
Sue is a Scottish Conservative Party MSP for the Lothian Region. She grew up in Juniper Green and now lives in the village with her partner Alasdair. Before politics Sue ran a small medical device business, MEDinburgh Ltd, which she started after working with Johnson & Johnson. For many years she was an active member of Watsonians Hockey Club. As President of the Club, she was involved in raising funds to help position the Club as one of the foremost forces in Scottish Hockey. Now Sue is more likely to be found on the local paths with her faithful companion, Alfie, a Hungarian Vizsla.

David Muego, Treasurer
David has lived in the local area for 30 years and has raised a family who have attended the local schools. Professionally he worked for Lloyds Banking Group as a Data Privacy Manager and has been in Banking for nearly 40 years. So, David feels well qualified to manage the Hub finances, having taken over the role of Treasurer in the middle of 2024. He is delighted to work with his fellow Trustees to support this valuable community resource. In his spare time David can be found walking his dog and he also coaches a local football team.

Kirsty Cumming, Secretary
Kirsty currently works as a locum community pharmacist and previously was a manager and regional manager for Tesco Pharmacies working within the Forth Valley local negotiation team. She was a keen member of Juniper Green PTA and fundraiser for them and has now moved on to supporting Edinburgh Steiner with their fundraising events. She was a member of the Save our Schools action group that won the right to keep the local Community High School.

Colin MacLeod, Fundraiser
Colin joined the team in 2020, and has over a decade of fundraising experience having worked for Marie Curie, Alzheimer Scotland and currently Erskine. A local Currie Community Councillor, he lives locally with his wife and two young daughters. Since joining the trustees in 2022, Colin has masterminded and organised a number of successful fund raising events for Pentlands Community Space.

Cliff Beevers
Emeritus Professor Cliff Beevers OBE DSc worked for over thirty years in the Mathematics Department of Heriot-Watt University. Since retiring he chaired the first local Community Council in this area from 2009-17 and led the organisation for the year of celebration of the founding of the village of Juniper Green (see www.junipergreencc.org.uk/jg300-1/index.html). Cliff was registered blind in 1977 and has been a guide dog owner since 1988 now working with his fifth dog. In 2003, he was awarded an OBE for his contributions to Education. Together with others he formed the National UK e-Assessment Association over a decade ago and was its first Chairperson.

Mark Porteous
Mark is the Managing Director of Porteous Funeral Directors one of Edinburgh’s leading independent companies. He has been involved with regulatory matters surrounding the introduction of regulation within the Scottish Funeral Profession and has served as both Scottish and National President for the Society of Allied Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF). His working life experience has given him the necessary skills to deal with all levels of communication and Mark is passionate about local Communities, and he will not hesitate to support projects or good causes where he feels he can make a difference.

Anne Wimberley
Anne has lived in Juniper Green for over 20 years playing an active role in the community. She was part of the team which set up the Pentlands Community Space Hub. Anne has organised events for the Labour Women’s Forum, such as a public meeting about TTIP, Christmas parties, AGM. With another member of the Forum Anne wrote and produced an ‘Amazing Women’s calendar, a ‘Walk down the High Street’ booklet, and a super Women’s quiz game. Activities at the Hub now take up a lot of her time, as does involvement with her family, friends, daughter, and step-grandchildren.
